FICCI FRAMES 2013

Ashok Mansukhani - Director ā€“ IndusInd Media & Communications Ltd.
President ā€“ MSO Alliance

Digitization is now a reality which metropolitan India has enjoyed in the last couple of months. In the near future in, the next 30 days, a lot of urban India, which is 38 cities with a population of 16 million are going to enjoy the benefits of high quality digital cable viewing. This will involve not only the supply of set top boxes but the supply of 300 quality channels at least. In time to come urban India will see 400 to 500 channels in the pristine video quality, many of them in high definition. The path to digitization has not been easy, India has tried this in the past and it is only in the last one year the things have moved to a situation where today at least the metropolitan cities are happy with digitization and the rest of urban India is beginning to enjoy its benefits. I will not say that the path has been easy, but there have been many benefits and many solutions have been found by the industry and will continue to be found in the future. What I really look forward to in the digital era of 2013, are really many different ways of looking at relationships. The first relationship that needs to repair is between a broadcaster who is a content owner and a distributer. If that is done Iā€™m sure that consumers will begin to enjoy the benefits of digitization even better.
