Corporate Social Responsibility
 |
At KPMG, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is integrated
into our global values. We are committed to our communities
and, as such, are dedicated to employing our talents and resources
to strengthen and support them.
|
To quote Mike Rake, Chairman, KPMG International, "There is
a strong moral and business case for corporate responsibility. The
moral case speaks for itself: it is simply about doing the right
thing. The business case is that businesses perform best when they
play a strong role in the communities in which they operate, for
example, by encouraging their employees to do voluntary work. My
strong conviction is that the best businesses of the 21st century
will be those that are both profitable and responsible."
In keeping with our global initiative, we set up the KPMG Foundation
in May 2005. The Foundation aims to promote charitable activities
in the country such as relief for the poor, education, medical relief,
and the advancement of any other objects of general public utility.
In order to do so, we have also recognised the need to partner with
organisations that have proven themselves true to a cause. This
newsletter contains details of some of our activities planned over
the next few months as well as some international developments.
It is our hope that KPMG India will soon be identified as a socially
responsible corporate citizen. It is not our intention merely to
write out chequeswith your help we would like to make a difference.
We have set the process in motion and look forward to your involvement
in these activities.
